Course materials are presented, using a combination of didactic teaching, taped demonstrations from real life clinical sessions, case studies, small group work, and question time. Each day is a stand-alone workshop, and participants may choose to choose either one or both workshops.

Designing/conducting a diagnostic assessment, comorbidity and differential diagnoses, screening/diagnostic tools, report preparation, designing a treatment plan, and sharing results with families and children/adolescents.

Innovations in CBT for depression in adolescents with ASD, anxiety reduction strategies, managing challenging behaviours, fostering expression of affection and friendships, and professional challenges in the field.

Health and education professionals (including counsellors, GPs, occupational therapists, paediatricians, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, speech pathologists, teachers, and teacher’s assistants).

For Cancellations: Up to 7 days notice payment will be refunded, minus a $50 administrative fee. At less than 7 days notice there will be no refund, but a credit note with Attwood and Garnett Events for future events, minus $50, will be issued. Attendance is fully transferable.

About the speakers

Prof. Tony Attwood PhD is an internationally recognised clinical psychologist, educator, and author. Recently featured on ABC’s Australian Story, Tony is one of the world’s foremost authorities on autism. His book Asperger’s Syndrome: A Guide for Parents and Professionals is an international best seller and seminal in the field.


Dr Michelle Garnett PhD is a clinical psychologist and Founder and Director of Minds & Hearts, a clinic specialising in Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). Michelle has co-authored four books on ASD. Her most recent book with Barb Cook is a seminal work on the female presentation, Spectrum Women: Walking to the Beat of Autism. She has co-authored three books with Tony on emotion management for children and adolescents.
