This intensive two-day masterclass has been designed to increase participant’s knowledge and skills in the diagnostic assessment and treatment of children and adolescents with Level 1 and Level 2 ASD, including Asperger’s syndrome.
During day one, participants will learn how to conduct a diagnostic assessment for a child or adolescents to determine whether that child is on the autism spectrum, including measurement of comorbidity, differential diagnosis, use of psychometric assessment, and both written and oral reporting or results to parents, teachers and the child.
During day two, participants will learn best practice models for intervention with children and adolescents on the autism spectrum, including individual and group therapy programs, and classroom accommodations that help.

Health and educational professionals who see children and/or adolescents with Asperger’s syndrome as part of their practice, including psychologists, teachers, teachers assistants, occupational therapists, speech pathologists, GPs, paediatric psychiatrists and paediatricians.
About the speakers
Prof. Tony Attwood PhD is an internationally recognised clinical psychologist, educator, and author. Recently featured on ABC’s Australian Story, Tony is one of the world’s foremost authorities on autism. His book Asperger’s Syndrome: A Guide for Parents and Professionals is an international best seller and seminal in the field.
Dr Michelle Garnett PhD is a clinical psychologist who has specialised in autism for 27 years. In 2005 she founded Minds & Hearts, a now internationally recognised Clinic. Her research has informed understanding of early detection, the female profile and the importance of good mental health. She has co-authored five highly regarded books on autism. Her most recent book with Barb Cook is a seminal work on the female presentation, Spectrum Women: Walking to the Beat of Autism.
