About This Course

Purpose

The purpose of the training is to equip participants to understand and support an autistic person who has ADHD or executive functioning problems to maximise the possibility of the best outcomes. We have designed the training for adults with ADHD, parents, and professionals.

Description

Research has shown over several decades that it is very common for autistic individuals to have attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, with some research studies estimating the co-occurrence is up to 70%.  Even if the person does not meet the full diagnostic criteria for ADHD, they have daily problems with executive function, including difficulties with focus, concentration, planning, organisation, time management and impulsivity.

This course will cover the latest research on autism and ADHD, the additional strengths and challenges of being autistic and having ADHD, and strategies to cope across school, work, leisure and home. ADHD and autism across the age span will be covered. The purpose of the course is to equip participants to understand and support their own ADHD or their child’s or clients to maximise the possibility of the best outcomes.

Testimonials

What our attendees have said...

I really enjoyed the free-flow conversation between Michelle and Tony. It made the presentation style easy to engage with. I also really liked the Q&A style, where you addressed the questions mid-way and prioritised the most popular questions.

It is so relevant for parents to have material presented that reflects our reality - given so many kids have both Autism and ADHD. I found this really relevant and helpful better to get my head around my child's experience and how I can support her. Thank you.

More than any of the others I've participated in the last 4-5 years, this workshop helped explain so much about being AuDHD. I now know without a doubt that I am both autistic and ADHD, although I've only ever been formally diagnosed with ADHD (and several other acronyms).
